Little Ella Day is a 12-year-old girl from the small town of Mount Zambier, Gladalaide, Australia who dreams of becoming a famous artist. Most of the time, she leads a completely normal life, but there is one thing that she has been struggling with in recent months. Her epilepsy has become worse and she is having more frequent and powerful seizures.
One day while walking through the woods on her way to school, Ella is struck by lightning and knocked off her feet. Amazingly, she is unharmed, but something weird and wonderful has also happened. As she gathers up her belongings, she discovers that her favourite possession has transformed to have a special power. She stares in wonder at her glowing ELECTRIC PAINTBRUSH.
