Mindful Self-Compassion: An Essential Practice for Parents of Children with Special Needs

January 11, 2023

As parents of children with special needs, self-compassion can become an essential skill that allows us to show up day after day with sustained compassion for our kids. Mindful Self-Compassion practices support our capacity to become our own inner ally when facing the complexities of parenting. In this presentation, learn some of the basics of Mindful Self-Compassion, and leave with some practical skills you can immediately begin to use in your daily life.

Speaker Bio: Barbara Moser, MD, is a grandma, mom, wife, animal lover, Mindful Self-Compassion Instructor, Compassion Resilience Toolkit trainer, and a retired family practice physician. She has worked extensively in the realm of emotional well-being in the Greater Milwaukee region for over 20 years. Parenting her adult daughter who lives with pervasive developmental delay and blindness, Barbara has found self-compassion practices to be a key resource for herself and the caregivers she teaches in providing the strength, courage, and inner stability necessary to care for ourselves, which in turn sustains our ability to compassionately care for our kids and those whom we support and love.
