Join Samuel and Dan Habib at Red River Theatres for a special screening of Being Heumann, the inspiring story of Judy Heumann, a trailblazing disability rights activist whose determination and leadership helped change the course of history.
The film follows Judy's remarkable journey, from confronting discrimination as a young woman with a disability to becoming one of the most influential voices in the disability rights movement. At the heart of her story is the historic 1977 sit-in in San Francisco, when Judy and fellow activists fought for federal protections for people with disabilities, helping pave the way for lasting change.
SPECIAL POST-FILM DISCUSSION
Following the screening, we're honored to welcome two-time Emmy-winning filmmakers Samuel and Dan Habib for a special conversation about their relationship and work with Judy Heumann.
Judy was featured in two of their Emmy-winning documentaries, My Disability Roadmap (2023) and The Ride Ahead (2026). Samuel and Dan will share personal stories and reflections on Judy's extraordinary legacy as a disability rights activist, mentor, friend, and remarkable human being.
Join us for a morning of powerful storytelling, personal reflections, and a celebration of a woman whose impact continues to inspire generations.
