NH Governor’s Youth Advisory Council on Substance Misuse and Prevention (GYAC)

The Governor’s Youth Advisory Council on Substance Misuse and Prevention (GYAC) was established by Governor Chris T. Sununu to gain the youth perspective on issues amidst the opioid crisis. The purpose of the Council is to advise the Governor, from a youth perspective, on legislation, events, and media pertaining to substance misuse for the people of New Hampshire.

The Council shall find creative ways to educate the youth of New Hampshire concerning issues related to substance misuse and prevention. The Council shall provide review and comment to the Governor regarding public issues, projects, and proposals that have an impact on youth in regards to substance misuse and prevention. The Council shall develop, organize, and participate in school projects and positive activities involving youth and substance misuse and prevention.

Executive Order 2020-12 was signed on June 18th, 2020, which directed the formal establishment of the Governor’s Youth Advisory Council on Substance Misuse and Prevention.
