Coverage of COVID-19 At-Home Antigen Tests

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the recent increase in the New Hampshire COVID-19 case rate, New Hampshire Medicaid has added a COVID-19 pharmacy benefit to cover at-home antigen testing for beneficiaries.

In accordance with the American Rescue Plan Act, there will be no cost for over the counter at-home antigen tests obtained through a Medicaid enrolled pharmacy for New Hampshire Medicaid beneficiaries. This coverage applies to all beneficiaries, including Fee-For-Service members as well as those enrolled in New Hampshire Healthy Families, AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire, and Well Sense Health Plan managed care plans. Medicaid beneficiaries who are also covered by Medicare and members of the limited Medicaid COVID-19 Group are also eligible to receive at-home antigen tests at no charge. Pharmacies will be prepared to bill testing supplies to Medicaid beginning 1/21/22.

Each member (there may be multiple members in a household) is able to attain up to eight individual COVID-19 tests per month. You must visit the pharmacy counter for coverage of at-home antigen test kits. There will be no out-of-pocket costs to you when you pick up these tests.

Testing is an important tool in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and overcoming the pandemic. In addition to these at-home antigen testing options, Medicaid members may continue to seek point-of-care testing, or testing directly through a provider, and testing through state-run sites at no charge. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should seek prompt testing.
